Martine Rose is a London-based label, which established in 2007. They start their journey with tightly edited shirting collections and became an internationally renowned brand. Martine Rose is named after its owner Martine and her authenticity and commitment to modernity creates collections with global success – and an underground cult state. Furthermore Martine Rose has become one of the most in demand fashion consultants and collaborates with many fashion brands in the world.
We would like to introduce you this new brand at CULTIZM, where a little assortment was added just a few hours ago.
Martine Rose is inspired by her Jamaican-British roots and her deep interest and involvement in the music and underground cultures of London. The real melting pot of the world so to say. The heart of the company: Family and community, thus the fashion shows were held in public spaces as the markets in Tottenham, neighbourhoods in Camden and the Torriano primary school. This creates a unique aesthestic – formed by an exploration of proportions and new silhouettes. But there is always a reference to subcultural contexts, both in textures and fabrications.
Due to its tension between the accepted codes of menswear and the resistance to these codes, the collections were always a investigation of new masculinity, sexual edges, characters and moods. These codes define Martine Rose’s work.
The collections were sold in global stockists and CULTIZM is one of them. Her work is also featured in editorials such as 032c, American Vogue, POP and many many more.
In 2019 Martine Rose participated in the exhibition Get Up, Stand Up Now and was nominated for the BFC’s Menswear Designer of the Year and the Urban Lux Award.
