Finally they are here. It took almost a year to have them at our shop! It was a long journey to be honest, but we’re so happy to introduce them to you. The idea started last year like “What can we do for our 15 year anniversary with Viberg?” Then we decided to try one special edition exclusively for cultizm. If you’re familar with Viberg, probably you know that you can actually pre-order in MTO (made to order) event with custom leather, eyelet, outsole… and so on. But we wanted to try something really different than the others.
However, when it comes to the design, it was almost impossible to try a total new shape of the shoes as it will take a lot of time to make a new pattern and combine it with certain lasts, they need to be tested for a long time. Thus we had to work with what Viberg could offer at that time, and obviously it was Service Boots to choose. It is an iconic, classic, and widely known boot. Thus it was a very easy decision to make. However, the next question was even bigger for us: “What kind of leather would we use?”
From the beginning, we tried to focus on a very ‘casual’ mood rather than ‘classic’ original boots. So we checked all their archives and found there were derby shoes with pebble-grain leather in black. We immediately thought it would be so cool to have service boots in this leather and that was the beginning of this project.
Then, we wanted to add something even more special to it. If we use just different leather, then it’s nothing different with MTO boots. So we had to look over the archives again, and found out there were boots with side-zip. We actually wanted to have back-zip, however, it wasn’t as easy as it looked like. Technically it was impossible, so we decided to have side-zip which will make the boots much more casual with black pebble-grain leather.
Dull nickel eyelets were taken as well as nickel side zippers, then we decided to have Lactae Hevae Crepe sole to give it a comfy and casual feeling.
It was not the end, we felt one isn’t enough for this special. Thus we decided to bring back one of the most beloved items in our history. Aged Bark Roughout Sevice Boots. Beautifully aged bark on the roughout side is classic and sturdy but still comfortable. It gets better with age, and fits almost every look no matter it’s casual or classic. It suits with denims especially, but also great with chinos, fatigue pants, tapered/regular/straight… with really any fits.
Limited quantities are availble for both boots and will be available online soon.
